Older Adult Psychiatry

In addition to the difficulties experienced by adults, as we get older we become more susceptible to a number of illnesses that require particular expertise. We have a psychiatrist with a specialist qualification in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric disorders affecting older adults (people in the age group of 65 and above).

The particular difficulties experienced by older adults include:

• Memory Problems (in particular Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia)

• Depression and Anxiety – late onset

• The interaction between physical and mental health issues
